Shanta earned her Master’s in Social Work in 2019 from Dominican University in Illinois. She is currently working towards her License Clinical Social Work license and is currently under supervision. Her upbring and career have always focused on her passion for working with children and families. Shanta has worked with foster care children for over 10 years. She is also a current military spouse so she understands the work it takes to work through deployment and hard it can be on the family and children. Her work includes conducting home studies, daily support, assisting clients with family reunification, support, and counseling. She worked as a Behavioral Health Therapist for a recovery center to assist the community with a mass trauma in Virginia. Her work includes assessments, treatment plan, counseling and using CBT, DBT and Solution focus modalities. She is currently a Medical Social Worker here in Virginia and her work involves assessments and discharge planning. She works in an interdisciplinary team and with the patient and their family.

Hello, I am Dorothy Brass, and I am a Licensed Master Social Worker and LCSW supervisee. I have a career in the social work field that has expanded over 30 years. I have held positions in Hospice, Youth Services, Social Services, Medical, Geriatric Services, and currently, I am a School Social Worker. I hold a Bachelor of Social Work from Norfolk State University and a Masters of Social Work from the University of Iowa. I have worked with children, teenagers, and adults of all ages. I have experience counseling people with depression, anxiety, trauma, behavioral challenges, crisis management, grief and loss, anger management, relationship issues, family interaction, parenting issues, and everyday challenges. Lastly, I have also provided in-home therapy and case management.
My approach to therapy is an integrated approach unique to each client. I use a mixture of
Solution-Focused and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. My counseling style is collaborative,

I am a current LCSW Supervisee and have been working in Medical Social and Case Management for 7 years. I have a separate training in adaptive yoga, meditation, and breath work. I received my Master’s of Social Work in 2012 from North Carolina State University. Prior to receiving my Master’s Degree, I worked in residential care with a population over age 50.
I work with many populations including adults, children, and families. I have always enjoyed working with aging adults to navigate that stage of life. My work in Medical Social Work and Case Management has given me experience assisting clients to manage medical challenges, life changing experiences, end of life needs, and grief work. These are unique times in every persons’ life.
